In the inclusion and unrecognised bias programs my colleague, Dr Natalie McDonagh and I have developed and have been delivering since 2011, we emphasise and teach mindfulness as a strategy to ameliorating the impact of unconscious bias.
Harvard is catching up! Last December the Harvard Business Review reported on 2014 research published in Social Psychological and Personality Science, that found that mindfulness meditation can reduce implicit bias—and the negative behaviours that it causes.
Researchers, ‘Lueke and Gibson explain that a group who listened to a 10-minute mindfulness exercise exhibited less bias on the race and age implicit association tests (IATs) than those who didn’t—without even focusing on the biases themselves.’
We pride ourselves on our innovative, leading edge programs and frequently get feedback about their impact. Guess this is proof! Read the report. http://bit.ly/1DN30Wa
